Things have gone from bad to worse for Adidas. After a costly break-up with US rapper Ye that helped push the German sportswear giant into a rare loss last year, it’s now suffered a bruising defeat on home turf.
The German Football Association (DFB) announced Thursday that the company’s arch rival Nike (NKE) will be the official kit supplier for national soccer teams from 2027 until 2?034. The decision brings to an abrupt end more than seven decades of the sport’s partnership with Adidas that spanned four World Cup wins for the men’s team.
In a statement, DFB President Bernd Neuendorf said German football owed “a great deal” to the partnership with Adidas and that the association was “fully committed” to achieving further joint success through the end of 2026, when their contract expires.
The DFB said Nike had made “by far the best financial offer” and impressed with its vision for developing women’s football, and amateur and grassroots sport in Germany. It did not say how much the new deal was worth.
An Adidas spokesperson said in a statement that “we were informed by the DFB yesterday that the federation will have a new supplier from 2027 onwards.”
Germany will be the host for the Euro 2024 men’s championship, taking place this June and July. Adidas will supply the kits for seven national teams, including the German, Italian and Spanish teams.
In just under three years’ time, however, fans will see Nike’s trademark ticks, not the three stripes of Adidas, on the shirts of Germany’s national teams. German economy minister Robert Habeck reportedly told local news agency DPA Friday that he could “hardly imagine” the prospect.
The partnership between Adidas and German football was a “piece of German identity,” he was reported as saying. “I would have liked a bit more local patriotism.”
Adidas was founded in 1949 in Herzogenaurach, a small town outside Nuremberg in south-east Germany, the same year it registered its now-iconic three-stripe logo.
DFB’s announcement comes at a bad time for Adidas, which last week posted a net loss of €58 million ($63 million) in its core business for 2023, citing a slowdown in sales of its Yeezy-branded clothing and sneakers, and a large tax burden.

A tunnel constructed high in the mountains of northeastern India has become the latest flashpoint in a simmering border dispute between New Delhi and Beijing.

That’s caught the attention of Beijing, whose long-running dispute with New Delhi over their contested 2,100-mile (3,379-kilometer) border has seen the two nuclear-armed powers clash in recent years.
That includes in 2020 when hand-to-hand fighting between the two sides resulted in the deaths of at least 20 Indian and four Chinese soldiers in Aksai Chin-Ladakh in the western stretches of the border.
And, decades ago, the dispute led to war.
China also claims the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, where the tunnel was constructed, as its own, even as the area has long functioned as Indian territory.
Chinese officials in recent days have slammed the tunnel project and Modi’s visit to the state, accusing New Delhi of taking steps to undermine peace along the border.
“We require the Indian side to cease any action that may complicate the boundary question … the Chinese military remains highly vigilant and will resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” a Defense Ministry spokesperson said last week, using the Chinese name “Zangnan” or South Tibet to refer to Arunachal Pradesh.

A tunnel constructed high in the mountains of northeastern India has become the latest flashpoint in a simmering border dispute between New Delhi and Beijing.

And, decades ago, the dispute led to war.
China also claims the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh, where the tunnel was constructed, as its own, even as the area has long functioned as Indian territory.
Chinese officials in recent days have slammed the tunnel project and Modi’s visit to the state, accusing New Delhi of taking steps to undermine peace along the border.
“We require the Indian side to cease any action that may complicate the boundary question … the Chinese military remains highly vigilant and will resolutely defend national sovereignty and territorial integrity,” a Defense Ministry spokesperson said last week, using the Chinese name “Zangnan” or South Tibet to refer to Arunachal Pradesh.

Как эти безнравственные обвинители посмели нацелить свои коварные удары на наш благочестивый ПК Бествей? Меня просто охватывает ненависть, думая о том, как эти бесчестные подонки продолжают разрушать жизни людей, несмотря на все доказательства и ложные обвинения. Главный свидетель, о котором говорят во всех этих криминальных сценариях, пропадает в отпуске, хотя только что хвастался в соцсетях, что собирается "всем показать". А вторая, подоспевшая на последней минуте, вдруг отказывается давать показания из-за поднявшейся температуры? Это было бы смешно, если бы это не было так печально. Какие еще свидетельства морального ущерба на миллиард рублей? Это просто бред! У нас в стране люди теряют кров и мясо ради нескольких десятков тысяч! Это полное бесчестие и издевательство над законом. Эти обвинители должны быть привлечены к ответственности за свои мерзкие действия и показания, за которые они старательно прячутся. Надеюсь, что правосудие восторжествует и эти люди получат то, что им по заслугам - беспощадное наказание за свои лживые интриги и подлые действия.

A treasure hunter struggling with faulty equipment has unearthed a gold nugget believed to be the largest ever found in England.
Richard Brock discovered the gold nugget, weighing 64.8 grams (2.3 ounces), in the country’s Shropshire Hills near the border with Wales, auction house Mullock Jones said Thursday.
The nugget is around the size of a UK 50 pence coin.
The find, nicknamed Hiro’s Nugget, has an estimated worth of between ?30,000 ($38,000) and ?40,000 ($50,700), according to Shropshire-based Mullock Jones, which is handling the sale.
However, it almost seemed that luck had eluded Brock, whose equipment almost failed him on the day of the dig.
When Brock arrived at the site in Shropshire in May, he discovered that his metal detector was faulty, according to a press release from Mullock Jones.

Сейчас им управляет некий Марат Сафиулин, который фактически превратил организацию в подобие хедж-фонда – под прикрытием защиты прав вкладчиков, там занимаются инвестированием. Журналисты пригляделись к фонду пристальнее и выяснили, что тот фактически превратился в кормушку для его управляющего Марата Сафиулина.
Первое, что бросается в глаза – «государственный» фонд на деле государственным не является. Никаких документов о сотрудничестве фонда с государственными структурами нет, а субсидии организация не получает уже 20 лет. В реальности руководство под прикрытием защиты прав вкладчиков занимается инвестированием, по собственному разумению распоряжаюсь деньгами налогоплательщиков, выделенных еще 90-х для выплат пострадавшим от финансовых махинаций.Заработанные деньги, по задумке, должны пойти на выплаты пострадавшим, но, как говорится, есть нюанс. Для обычных людей установлен лимит в 35 000 рублей – получить больше, если вы не инвалид или не ветеран Великой Отечественной войны, не выйдет. Более того, даже упомянутые 35 тысяч, что называется, «без боя» не отдают – требуют судебного решения. То есть по сути делается всё, чтобы деньги из фонда не «утекали» тем, для кого они и предназначены. Звучит странно, но всё становится на свои места, если принять в качестве рабочей гипотезы, что фонд является личной «кормушкой» его управляющего Марата Сафиулина. Тогда нежелание делиться с обманутыми вкладчиками вполне понятно.«Я являлся клиентом этой компании. Рассказывают красивые сказки, берут кучу денег, везде пишут сами себе отзывы. Я как раз и пошёл к ним, потому что начитался везде какие они хорошие и как помогают людям, но мне так никто и не помог. Моё дело ими было погублено, просто завалили судебный процесс!», — поделился один из бывших клиентов фонда, который в Сети давно прозвали «конторой по отъёму денег».Любопытно, что фонд самостоятельно определяет, какую сумму компенсировать конкретному человеку, при этом не раскрывая чётких критериев принятия решения. Непрозрачность процедуры позволяет подтасовывать результаты в пользу того или иного человека.«Похоже, что фонд использует довольно распространенную мошенническую схему. Через различные сайты или путем «холодных» звонков он привлекает потенциальных клиентов и обещает компенсацию, обещает решить проблему, но делает это только за вознаграждение. Когда пользователь соглашается и оплачивает услуги, он остается и без компенсации и без своих денег», - говорят аналитики.
